The celebration was held in Villa Russo in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York. Over 300 people attended the event, of which 25 were Hanshi’s friends and students. They were there to offer support and enjoy in his celebration. The Honorees and guests were served a lavish buffet of Italian cuisine. After the meal, the Honorees were recognized. The highlight of the program, for Kenryukan, was Hanshi Lubitsch’s acceptance speech. Hanshi Lubitsch’s speech focused on karate being much more than kicking and punching.
